Family Support :: Respite Care

Respite Care provides a short-term, temporary break for a caregiver of their family member with a developmental disability. Just as important, it helps individuals foster social and independent living skills, and provides the company of a new friend.

Respite care affords families a level of comfort and renewed energy. Qualified providers are available to provide respite in the family's home, out in the community or in the provider's home. Families have a choice to hire their own provider or to request an Gateways Community Services provider.

Gateways Community Services providers receive training, support and supervision through Gateways Community Services. Our staff recruits and trains interested providers to meet the needs of over 150 families. Depending on the need, respite can be an occasional break, or a weekly necessity. Gateways Community Services maintains a list of respite providers through Family Support.
